NFSU Bhopal is an off-site campus of National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), an Institution of National Importance under Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, which was established in 2009 as the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU) by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modiji, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat with a sole objective of creating professional experts in the field of Forensic sciences. Based on its remarkable contribution to forensic allied sciences, GFSU was elevated as an Institute of National Importance with the new identity called National Forensic Sciences University by the Government of India through Act, 2020 (32 of 2020) with the objective of fulfilling the acute shortage against the increasing demand for forensic experts in the country and around the world.
The NFSU’s Bhopal campus is established with the objective of strengthening forensic facilities in Madhya Pradesh. As a part of its mission the University is currently offering 04 programs namely 1) M.Sc. Forensic Science, 2) PG Diploma in DNA Forensics, 3) PG Diploma in Forensic document examination and 4) PG Diploma in fingerprint sciences. Based on the overwhelming response received in its first year, the campus is planning to offer more programs from the next academic year.
The Government of Madhya Pradesh has principally agreed to allot 27 acres of land to NFSU for establishing a world-class campus to cater the needs of students from India and Abroad. NFSU Bhopal is currently functioning from its transit campus in the premises of Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Bhopal. CFSL.
